This is an important list and was first published by Sharyl Attkisson. It’s as relevant today as it was ten years ago.
“What’s most successful when it appears to be something it’s not? Astroturf. As in fake grassroots.”
“The many ways that corporations, special interests and political interests of all stripes exploit media and the Internet to perpetuate astroturf is ever-expanding. Surreptitious astroturf methods are now more important to these interests than traditional lobbying of Congress. There’s an entire PR industry built around it in Washington.”
Below are the top ten astroturfers as viewed by respondents in an informal, non-scientific survey.*
TOP 10 ASTROTURFERS
1. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and Everytown
2. Media Matters for America
3. University of California Hastings Professor Dorit Rubenstein Reiss and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Dr. Paul Offit
4. “Science” Blogs such as: Skeptic.com, Skepchick.org, Scienceblogs.com (Respectful Insolence), Popsci.com and SkepticalRaptors.com
5. Mother Jones
6. Salon.com and Vox.com
7. White House press briefings and press secretary Josh Earnest
8. Daily Kos and The Huffington Post
9. CNN, NBC, New York Times, Politico and Talking Points Memo (TPM)
10. MSNBC, Slate.com, Los Angeles Times and Michael Hiltzik of the Los Angeles Times, MSNBC and Jon Stewart.
“Astroturfers often disguise themselves and publish blogs, write letters to the editor, produce ads, start non-profits, establish Facebook and Twitter accounts, edit Wikipedia pages or simply post comments online to try to fool you into thinking an independent or grassroots movement is speaking. They use their partners in blogs and in the news media in an attempt to lend an air of legitimacy or impartiality to their efforts.”—Attkisson report [*link below for full article]
ANOTHER LEVEL TO ASTROTURFING … deceit on steroids:
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation—a Philanthropic Con-job
Perhaps one of the most obvious examples of an organization disguised as philanthropic is the Gates Foundation. While the term ‘astroturf’ is most often applied specifically to a non-profit org projecting a semblance of grassroots activism—the Gates Foundation surely bamboozled a lot of folks who presumed he was just a kind-hearted ‘Do-Gooder’ trying to put his vast wealth to good use. He has also been instrumental in financing the media narratives that have served his business interests as well as his crony alliance’s political agendas.
Tightly aligned with the WEF, it has become clear to anyone paying attention that the directives and goals of the Gates Foundation include: depopulation; bioengineering—humans and the food chain; controlling agriculture; and funding vaccine propaganda and propagation(and especially controlling the Pharma media narratives.)
CENSORSHIP AND SUSTAINING THE RACKET
As an example of the censorship activity and powerful influence of big money, we might consider this example from a Dutch news source.
This headline from 2021 (translated):
“Totally unhinged: Bill Gates calls for penalties for critics of mouth caps and vaccines”
What else might a megalomaniacal computer geek try to do to exert total control over humankind?
“According to Musk, Gates and his company Microsoft are developing a sophisticated AI that will control “every facet” of human life.
A new Microsoft AI chip called “Maia” is set to be the cornerstone of the company’s budding AI infrastructure.
Maia, we are told, will use artificial generalized intelligence (AGI) to take control of all aspects of society on a global level.
AGI differs from the isolated AI applications many people now know about in that it supposedly represents actual “intelligence” minus human inputs, i.e., ChatGPT.
Experts are likening the technology to Skynet – the computer system that controls the machines in the Terminator movies.
“ChatGPT and MidJourney AI are cool, novel applications, but they only function within a specific domain – an AGI is more like the science fiction computers we have seen in the Terminator franchise,” explains Wlt Report.”—Evol news
CLIMATE CHANGE—the great deception
‘An Inconvenient Truth’ turned out to be a ‘Useful Lie.’
Another one of the popular astroturf ‘masking narratives’ is Climate Change. Beneath the astroturfed surface, the usual Hegelian scheme (Problem-Reaction-Solution) is lurking—
The Problem: ‘Climate change will lead to the destruction of the Planet’(excluding real concerns for humankind’s future).
The controlled Reaction: the media and political actors churn up the fear factors to convince the misinformed masses that investing in climate change initiatives is a good use of our tax dollars—even if the initiatives merely produce new revenue streams for the affiliated corporate interests.
The Solution: siphon the money from the people and their governments into the bank accounts of various Astroturf organizations, foundations, and governmental spin-offs, while promoting a narrative that translates as: ‘corporate do-gooders’ who care about our future, and actually care even more about the profit margins of the allied corporate interests.
In a word: ‘Hypocrisy.’ Or: just one more con’s piracy.
Hypocrisy; gas-lighting; inversions of data; selecting specific stats in order to create support for a government program conjured by the institutions that feed at the tax trough. It’s difficult not to sound like a hard-boiled cynic. And yet—to ignore the devious profiteering schemes of the Gates Foundation or any of the players working in cahoots with the WEF, is to sign humanity’s death decree. Virtually every significant money-laundering scam has some link to war and deceit and a protection racket like no other. Astroturf is realistically another term for ‘gangsterism.’
Convince the people to Fear the designated boogeyman, and wait for the government contracts to deliver the booty to the corporate bank accounts. This is another way of addressing the attributes of “Crony-Capitalism.” When you’re in the club, the perks are available upon asking for the check.
An important facet of the Astroturfing' psychological deception is a process of inversion:
‘Climate change,’ as a singular issue, disregards the corporate billionaire oligarch’s accountability for pollution and environmental degradation—while masking how the financing schemes are purportedly used to protect the environment—which is the inversion: as if the need to ‘protect us from ourselves’ is a matter for the Oligarch-club; while We the People are regarded with contempt, as if ignorant children. Children who are unaware of the high stakes at the Globalist gambling table.
A Hollywood Parable of Actual Environmental Relevance…
A dramatic example of duplicity and deception is represented in the dark and dirty story of Dow Chemical and the dark water tale that became the basis for the film of the same name. The film’s synopsis is straightforward deception: “Dark Waters follows Robert Bilott's (Mark Ruffalo) real-life legal battle against DuPont over the release of a toxic chemical into Parkersburg, West Virginia's water supply, affecting 70,000 townspeople and hundreds of livestock.”
Toxic drums full of Dow’s chemical leftovers were stored in a landfill and leaked, as barrels are wont to do over time. The cattle farmer finds an attorney, Robert Bilott, who is willing to listen— and he delivers boxes of records to the Law offices. The farmer hopes for the best, and the lawyer goes to Dow to see if the Chemical giant will clean up the toxic mess. This is the part where the CEO (who is beholden to the stockholders and the board of directors) begins a process of stone-walling Bilott’s efforts (initially unbeknownst to the attorney). The story goes on from there until Billot has enough evidence to indict Dow on polluting the environment and killing the cattle, and also making the locals sick. Later in the film, the farmer is diagnosed with cancer. Who woulda thunk?
Ruffalo acquired the story rights and this Hollywood Reporter excerpt describes the outcome:
“Longtime activist Mark Ruffalo read the article in the New York Times Magazine and went after the film rights, eventually partnering up with Participant to produce it.”
"I felt like there was something missing from the original story at Taft," Ruffalo said at the New York [press]conference Nov. 9. "Some sort of conflict that was happening that really wasn't in the article." When Ruffalo asked Bilott about it, his wife told the actor and producer of the film to get the rights, and they would tell him everything. Bilott became a part of the entire filmmaking process after that.
"What's remarkable about Rob [Bilott] is he's not your typical hero," Ruffalo said later in the conference. "He's a very modest guy, and we really went for that. He's not a hero because we want to be him, he's a hero because we don't."
The story behind the movie goes far beyond the inspiration we as viewers may enjoy at the film’s conclusion. In real life, it was Bilott’s dogged persistence and commitment to a cause that was born out of a farmer’s tragic plight, that led to the removal of PFC’s—PFOA’s and PFAS from non-stick cookware. It turns out that “Teflon memory” really does mean— memory that doesn’t stick.
INVERSIONS
The great inversion narrative we know as ‘Climate change’ serves as a useful propaganda tool that redirects the people’s attention from the sources of our collective un-wellness and ill health. While Al Gore was busy stumping for ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, the actual inconvenient truth had to do with the fact that cancer and early deaths of humans could be prevented if the environment wasn’t so heavily laden with toxic overflow produced by industrial giants like Dow or Monsanto.
The COVID conspiracy was a similar inversion of the truth insofar as it redirected the attention of the misinformed citizen from a real pandemic—Cancer, to a bioweaponized cold-flu virus Sars-Corona hybrid ,i.e., “SARS-CoV.”
The misleading hysteria conjured by the corporate media (with its Pharma sponsors) resulted in mass formation psychosis on a global scale. It is and was apparent that this scale of a PsyOp is akin to a ‘propaganda pandemic’—or more accurately, “pLandemic”—that was a further inversion of statistical data in service to the globalist objectives for totalitarian control.
As a society today, we continue to dance around the real topic of propaganda campaigns, big lies, and the corporate media’s active role in contributing to a mentally deficient class of humans. Ignorance is not bliss, and no Pharma-cult overlord will convince awakened people that ‘owning nothing’ will lead to happiness.
The radical inversion of a ‘healthy diet’ translated as ‘eating insects’ is doomed for failure. Nor will lab meat feeding on Astroturf provide humans with the vital nutrition necessary for sustaining health, vitality, and longevity.
We can no longer afford to embrace a Teflon memory as the norm.
Teflon Footnote—
“The main chemicals of concern with non-stick cookware are a family of chemicals called PFAS/PFC. This is a family comprised of hundreds of different chemicals, which have a lot in common and those that have been studied have been shown to be (very) harmful for us and for the environment.
Commonly used PFAS contribute to liver disease, cholesterol buildup, impaired response to vaccines, thyroid disease, asthma, lowered fertility, and high blood pressure in pregnant women. Elevated risk of testicular and kidney cancer have been found in highly exposed people. Environmentally: almost everyone’s water supply is contaminated with PFAS chemicals (many water filters do not remove PFAS) and it is extremely difficult to remove. In fact, “in 2006, DuPont scientists acknowledged in a publication that most PFOA and related PFAS chemicals made since the 1950s have ended up in our environment”
The ‘old’ formulation for Teflon was made of PTFE which contained a PFAS chemical called PFOA - this is a suspected carcinogen and has been completely phased out of cookware since 2013 ( PFOA and some closely related chemicals (such as PFOS) are now no longer made in the US, although they are still made in some other countries and could potentially reach US consumers in certain types of products. ) ….. the question has remained though: if we know most members of the PFAS family are bad- what is being used in current non-stick cookware in lieu of PFOA?”
